Abstract

This study aims to explore the authoritarian leadership style perceived by students, assess their grit, and examine the correlation between authoritarian leadership style and grit. A quantitative-correlational research design was employed, with 128 student respondents selected through simple random sampling. The research instrument included adapted survey questionnaires, including the Leadership Styles Questionnaire and the Grit Scale. The results revealed neutral levels of both authoritarian leadership style and grit among students. Additionally, a weak positive correlation was observed between these two traits, suggesting that students who exhibit higher levels of authoritarian leadership may demonstrate slightly greater grit in achieving their goals. These findings highlight the importance of creating supportive environments in educational settings to promote student success and well-being. Moreover, they emphasize the nuanced role that an authoritarian leadership style can play in influencing students’ perseverance and determination.
