The International Journal of Critical Cultural Studies engages with a broad spectrum of topics, including but not limited to media studies, visual culture, digital and popular culture, gender and queer studies, race and ethnicity, and global cultural flows. It aims to unpack how culture is constructed, contested, and communicated within and beyond national boundaries, and how cultural artifacts and practices reflect, resist, or reinforce hegemonic ideologies. The International Journal of Critical Cultural Studies is an essential resource for those committed to understanding and challenging the forces that influence cultural creation and consumption in contemporary society.
The journal is part of the New Directions in the Humanities Journal Collection. This collection is brought together by a common interest in established traditions in the humanities while at the same time developing innovative practices and setting a renewed agenda for their future. We seek to build an epistemic community to make linkages across disciplinary, geographic, and cultural boundaries. The journal collection is defined by our Research Network scope and concerns and motivated to build strategies for action framed by our shared themes and tensions.
The International Journal of Critical Cultural Studies is a Hybrid Open Access journal. We offer various pathways to make your research accessible and make accessibility affordable. Please see our Open Access Statement and Journal Author Rights & Permissions support page for more information.
