Multiliteracies according to Cope is the broader sense of multimodal knowledge production .The wiki definition for multiliteracies is the ability to identifie ,interpret ,create and communicate meaning across a variety of visual,oral and corporal forms of communication.
Multiliteracies approach is important in education ,because ensures students sucess and ability for learners to interact ,relate,and work with people from diverse languange and cultural backgrounds. JAmes Paul Gee insists that students need t learn multiple literacies to meet the changing demands and dynamics of the workplace.
Since i am working in the field of science , i feel that multiliteracies support the multimodality and as a result engage leraners in active learnig.An exapmle o how to use multiliteracies in science constitues of :focus on a specific unit,use information textbooks,visual represenations , interactive webpages ,excel spreadsheets and devices like ipods for instruction.
