Visual Design of Medical Animation Production Processes
Abstract
This study aimed to provide a guide for combining medical scientific information with visual expression principles for the production of a medical animation film in accordance with visual logic and film grammar. It is believed that it will be especially useful for animators to create a visual design language suitable for contents where animation intersects with a different discipline. For this purpose, Mayer’s Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning was selected as a basis. Visual design, which will emerge through the effective use of medical animation production processes, the seven evidence-based principles in multimedia design containing animation put forward by Mayer, and the elements of film language have been shown to be effective tools for capturing an understandable, aesthetic, and artistic expression language to convey scientific data. The medical animation industry, which has a wide area of use and is developing rapidly today, is developing rapidly in Türkiye and worldwide. This study, is unprecedented in Türkiye, is important for visualizing and communicating complex and difficult to understand biomedical processes.
