Abstract
To be environmentally conscious, organizations are setting up strategies to integrate green efforts into their standard work environment. This study contributes to the current body of knowledge and the banking industry in Pakistan. This research study aims to learn about the relationship between green human resources management practices and employees’ pro-environmental behavior, which is based on the theory of planned behavior. The research examines the mediating role of a green lifestyle and the moderating effect of green self-efficacy on the relationship between green human resource management (GHRM) practices and employees’ pro-environmental behavior. Data was collected from the employees in the banking sector of Pakistan using a survey. Three hundred twenty questionnaires with a response rate of 86 percent were received using convenience sampling. Statistical techniques such as regression and PROCESS macro were employed to test the hypotheses. Results indicated that green human resources management practices and pro-environmental behavior are positively associated, while green lifestyle mediates this relationship. However, green self-efficacy does not appear as a significant moderator. The theoretical implications of this study provide new insight for future research scholars. The study also offers practical suggestions to assist scholars in developing the relationship dynamics among employees by mitigating the impact of green human resources management and pro-environmental behavior.
