Abstract

Employers need a workforce who possess skills that are useful in their company; thus, the researchers desire to identify the employability skills of the participants. Specifically, this study aimed to determine the top three strongest and the bottom three weakest employability skills of the 105 participants from one of the higher educational institutions in Oman. The discussion focused on employability skills that would match with what employers in the modern business world are looking for. The survey forms were distributed to the participants, and the results show that dependability (µ = 5.10), teamwork (µ = 4.74), and interpersonal skills (µ = 4.33) are assessed by the participants as their strongest skills. On the other hand, communication skills (µ = 3.50), data analysis (µ = 3.45), and decision-making (µ = 2.60) are the three bottom-weakest skills among the ten employability skills used in the study. In closing, academic institutions must equip their students with the employability skills that are most significantly needed by the different businesses in the modern world.
