Abstract

This study investigates the historical development and contemporary significance of Mongolian intangible heritage within the broader context of cultural preservation in Inner Mongolia. Through an exploration of the Kuaizi dance and its role in expressing Mongolian cultural identity, this research examines its evolution from a traditional folk practice to a celebrated stage performance. Through a blend of literature review and field research, the study examines the dynamics of cultural transmission and adaptation, highlighting how the Kuaizi dance serves as a focal point for understanding the preservation, adaptation, and revitalization of traditional cultural practices. The research aims to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on cultural preservation by offering insights into the strategies employed by the Mongolian community to safeguard their intangible cultural heritage. The findings underscore the dance’s significance in maintaining cultural diversity and the empowerment of minority communities, advocating for a nuanced understanding of cultural continuity and change within the framework of dynamic inheritance. This approach challenges simplistic categorizations, fostering a more dynamic understanding of Mongolian cultural heritage in the face of globalization and modern pressures.
