Abstract
Objectives: This study evaluates the University of Jordan’s effectiveness in integrating ethics and human values coursework with volunteer work initiatives to promote sustainable development goals. It aims to determine the university’s success in fostering a culture of sustainable development and positioning itself as a catalyst for societal progress. Methods: A descriptive–analytical approach was used, drawing on quantitative data from the University of Jordan’s database. The study analyzed the participation of 4,786 students across fifty-seven sections in extracurricular activities linked to their coursework. Results: The findings indicate that the University of Jordan effectively uses extracurricular activities to align educational goals with societal and environmental aspirations, significantly enhancing students’ societal values and contributing to the attainment of sustainable development indicators. Conclusions: The research highlights the importance of integrating extracurricular activities into higher education curricula, advocating for education to extend beyond the classroom. The effective organization of volunteer work is essential for advancing universities’ strategic plans and achieving sustainable development goals.
