Abstract

This is a transcript of the panel “Curatorial Justice,” which was conducted on August 4, 2024, at the Blackstar Film Festival in Philadelphia. The panel of film curators discussed curatorial practice from a global perspective, the contradictions in the ways that they work, and the liberal hypocrisies inherent in progressive intentions of diversifying and representing. The aim of the session was to map clearly what we mean by curatorial injustice and how we are all implicated in it, how we participate in it, and finally to move toward defining what a practice of undoing that might look like.
