New Learning MOOC’s Updates
Teacher team work and AI
Comment: I find the changing role of teachers extremely poignant. I am lucky to work in a Science department that take on the role of collaboration well. We share planning resources, what worked, ideas we have and despite different levels of leadership everyone is recognised as a professional. This has lead the the department being the most successful. It has also lead to higher leadership becoming threatened by the success of this group that they are not part of and so restrict or try to pick at the group. Working in teas for students and staff is key to keeping up with changes that happen so quickly but strong teamwork and collaboration can be seen as threatening by others.
Make an update: There has been a lot of controversy about the use of AI by staff and students. I think the biggest issue here is the understanding of the training required to use it effectively and its limitations. I have taken a course in prompt engineering that enabled me to create a sharable prompt with students so that the LLM will prompt students to share what they know on a topic, rate their response and identify gaps in knowledge, It can then generate questions to further test knowledge. This took me a few hours to refine, but it is now a useful tool for individual and independent revision.
