In a news article entitled, Roles of education in driving environmental, social and governance goals written by Jing Castañeda published by Philippine Star last August 12, 2023, she shared her personal insights as she was the moderator of the League of Corporate Foundations’ Committee on Education Conference Session.
As a media practitioner, she said that education is a powerful contributor in meeting the society and business objectives. She added that education serves as a tool that empowers people, bridge social inequalities and injustices and promotes sustainable practices.
This is how education influences the lives of every individual. It has the power to raise awareness, to equip people with necessary knowledge and skills essential for survival, to give practical and sustainable solutions to different societal issues.
The article emphasizes the vital role education plays in shaping both society and business objectives, and I completely agree. Education has the potential to empower individuals and address key issues like social inequality and sustainability. However, for education to truly bridge these gaps, it needs to be accessible to everyone, regardless of socioeconomic background. Simply raising awareness isn’t enough—there must be a focus on practical implementation and ensuring that all individuals have the tools and opportunities to apply what they learn to real-world challenges.
