Distant Learning Modalities amidst Covid-19 Pandemic
Covid-19 Pandemic changed the lives of people all over the world. It killed many people, it closed many establishments, it caused fear to many, it marked a black spot in history of mankind. However, as others' may say, whatever comes, the show must go on and so with education. With the situation that no one was prepared for, adjustments were made especially with the learning modality. To continue the education process, the department has adapted ways to accommodate the needs of the students amid the trying instance. Among the modalities, we had modular, online, radio or broadcast and blended. These modalities were implemented to continue learning while students are away from school. These modalities were a big help in continuing learning however, there are lots of challenges along the way especially on the part of the teachers. A survey was done first to get the most convenient and applicable to the learners depending on their situation. As of our case, since we are in a far-flung area, we cannot push through with online since not all have gadgets and stable internet connection. We utilized modular instead. We needed to make, reproduce and distribute materials to students just for continuous education to happen. The struggle was real since the resources were also limited. But in spite of this, we tried to survive and be true to our profession which is to provide quality education to our students. Whatever challenge the time may bring us, we don't have any choice but accept and do our best for our students.
@Dyna Rikka Parajes, thank you for sharing this update. I'm happy you're addressing Covid educational outcomes in your work. I think this is a huge factor in todays learning environment. Students are missing key aspects of their developmental process from not having experienced those foundational years in preschool and kindergarten. I look forward to reading more of your discoveries in your upcoming posts.
