New Learning MOOC’s Updates
Essential update # 2 Changing role of the teacher in Transformative Pedagogy
As I am a teacher, I am quite interested in changing role of the teacher in the framework of transformative pedagogy. Transformative pedagogy might be seen as the most successful model of pedagogy, as it is one of the most student-centered and progressive one. From students perspective it is apparent that they have a chance to feel more freedom during classes, state their opinion, agree or disagree with the teacher and all these factors could positively affect on their soft skills.
Whereas it is not so clear when we speak about transformative pedagogy and a teacher. Didactic pedagogy has the certain rules one of which is a teacher is always right. The teacher has brilliant reputation as he or she of course know more and better. But this statement has already seemed for me to be archaic. So there are many other sources of information besides a teacher, including social media platforms, TV, books, etc. Moreover informal learning is a tool for students to gain some more experience outside of classroom, so in this case the material in curricular might have no relevance for some students or they might have different from teacher point of view related to certain issues.
In this case, who is a teacher in transformative pedagogy?. He or she is not a leader in educational process, but he/she is supposed to be a good friend of the student, giving the right direction and motivating the students for new starts.

Totally agree. Teachers today are not only the teacher who teach the knowledge but also the guiders who give directions and inspire learners. Teachers' role have changed. Teachers are models, friends and coaches. Therefore, we should be aware of our roles in today's education.
A pedagogy that focuses more on the learners and their learning experience rather than the teachers. The idea is good.
Basically, let's take the learner as the center, let's ask them questions but not impose answers, suggest and accompany learners' perspectives, not leave them alone in everything. situation. I hope you can specify some examples that you have applied in practice.
I love your thought about the Transformative Pedagogy. I read two schools professor William Cope mentioned and really make me interested in this topic.Transformative pedagogy is the latest petagogy and is on its way exploring by teachers and learners. It focuses on the learner and learning. It changes the balance of agency in learning relationships by encouraging learners to build their own knowledge in a supportive learning environment, such as social media platforms, tv, books that you mentioned.A lot of informal learning in it break down the walls of the traditional classroom and the new relationship between teachers and students is unprecedented.Great thought~
