Optional Update #1// Find a contemporary text of political rhetoric or public policy that sets social objectives for education
On December 30, 2020, Spain's governing party passed an education law that was quite controversial on some points. One of them, I will comment here: the affective-sexual education.
The law proposes the transversal promotion of health education, including affective-sexual education. Specifically, in primary school it is proposed to know, understand and respect different cultures and the differences between people, the non-discrimination of people for reasons of ethnicity, sexual orientation or identity, religion or beliefs, disability or other conditions.
This has generated controversy in the region, because conservative parties consider this to be an alienation for children. It does not imply integration in their view
From my point of view, in a global world where we are increasingly interconnected with people from other cultures as well as migratory movements between nations, I believe that instilling that point is vital for modern societies. Now, how they do it is also important, which is what the law does not specify.
