Learning By Doing
Learning By Doing is one of the best pedagogy in teaching learning process.Learning by doing enhances better understanding and fastrer approach towards adaptability.
Activity based learning gives full engagement which is very active and not passive method of rote learning. Active engagement gives deep learning and helps to discover errors and ways to relearn from mistakes.In order to grasp correct methods, it is essential tp pass the trials of wrong ways.
This method was was first upheld by John Dewey, an American philosopher. This approach negated the age traditional learning which was basically memorization.Learning is a process and it can never happen in passive way. To retain the learning in long term memory, hand in activity is very important.
For real learning knowledge has to be broken down in small parts which can be easily retained in memory before compilation of learning as whole.
Totally agree, moreover, as a former shiatsu and yoga instructor, I remember having been thought by eastern country teacher that the way the were expecting us to learn was totally different that the western pedagogy. For them, theory or didactic teaching will be always the second step and not the first: The point is to get to experience in you body, your doing, your touch...what is it about...and have this sense of curiosity because you already wait for the knowledge to help you, facilitate something, clarify something...so it gives you a better understanding, helps you memorize and moreover engage the student !
