Ubiquitous Learning and Instructional Technologies MOOC’s Updates
Technology meditated learning - Effect on in-person learning and learning at a distance
Technology-mediated learning has made significant impacts on both learning in-person and online learning.
Impacts on in-person learning:
1. Engagement: Thanks to technology tools, teacher can implement more appealing and educational activities in class to engage students' interest in learning and acquiring. (Eg: Quizzi, Kahoot!, ... for games or Video/ Image/ PPT)
2. Accessibility of Resources: Technology is flourishing by leaps and bounds, which indicates the fact that students can get access to a myriad source of knowledge and information on the Internet for further study.
3. Collaboration tools: Upon face-to-face learning, cloud services can assist teacher in gathering students' assignment and allow students to update their peers' work in real time. (Eg: Google Drive, Google Docs, Padlet, ...)
Impacts on learning at a distance:
1. Accessbility: Albeit the geography, technology tools support students in accessing to high-quality education, breaking down geographical barriers.
2. Flexibility: Online courses allow students to learn with their self-pace and flexible schedules. Therefore, the content can be traced back anytime, anywhere.
Example of a technology tool: Padlet
What? - It is a platform in which the teacher can create a classroom board and students post their assignment or engage in different activities.
How? - Students can attach a file, text, link, image, ... and check their peers' tasks in real time.
Why? - It allows teacher to manage the class and create different classroom activities online.
This project idea on computer-mediated learning environments is highly relevant and aligns with current trends in education.
