Ubiquitous Learning and Instructional Technologies MOOC’s Updates
Nearpod as an example of learning technology
I have come acros Nearpod a few month ago and I have been amazed by the diversity it offered.
I structure my presentation on "Slides" normally using Nearpod as an Add-on,students are provided with a code to access the presentation from their own device during the session time, there is also a student-paced link that can be provided to student where they can go through the presentation, videos and all activities embedded at their own pace anytime they chose.
It enabled me to embed open-ended questions where all students can have the opportunity to share their feedback about and run a discussion about info provided. As well as videos, whether YouTube videos, my own videos or even Nearpod Interactive video.
After every chunk I add "Understanding Check" section where they are given timed questions that assess understanding of the content covered and instant feedback is provided for the students.
At the end a report is generated that shows the percentage of participation of each student in each section of the Nearpod presentation along with the percentage of the overall participation.
For me it's fun, engaging, out of the classroom learning tool. In addition to the formative assessment options that can be incorporated into the presentation.
