Negotiating Learner Differences MOOC’s Updates

Demographics changes and consequences

The Department of Education ensures that all school-age children and youths receive a basic high-quality education that will allow them to function as productive, socially responsible citizens. Elementary education in the Philippines is compulsory; it starts at age five and lasts for seven years (one year of kindergarten and six years of primary education). Secondary education begins at age 12 and lasts for an additional six years; undergraduate college instruction typically is four years. Vocational schools offer specialized training for one to three years, some in collaboration with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. There are dozens of state-run universities and colleges, a large portion of them in Metro Manila, as well as a number of private institutions.

On the other hand, watching this  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZ73dKG_REo made me realized that some students that have all the capabilities and previlege  of an easy access to education would might have the bright future compared to those less furtunate ones. How about these students who are in the world of struggles and needing determination just to finish their studies? Every year, Philippines has almost a million students stopped being enrolled in school for they need to walk several kilometers or to climb mountains just to reach their schools and some are not having very strong determination and encouragement from their own family and even help from the government. Yes, Free access to education from the government but they  are living in a  truly harmful and unsafe environment that  might cause harm to them. Some students need to help their parents to have food to eat on their plates, some students are choosing what is easy for them that would benefit all their family members that is why they just chose to stop enrolling in school no matter how free it is but the hindrances in their everyday lives they are experiencing.

This video made me realized I really have to pursue being a rural teacher. And It's never too late to help pupils to reach their dreams and be a productive citizens.
