Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS)

One example of an intelligence test is the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS), which is widely used to assess intelligence in adults. The WAIS consists of several subtests that measure various cognitive abilities, including verbal comprehension, perceptual reasoning, working memory, and processing speed. it takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to complete and consists of multiple subtests, each designed to assess a specific cognitive function. For example, the Vocabulary subtest measures verbal comprehension by asking participants to define words, while the Block Design subtest assesses perceptual reasoning by requiring participants to arrange blocks to match a pattern.

The WAIS assesses a wide range of cognitive abilities, providing a comprehensive profile of an individual's strengths and weaknesses. Nevertheless, like many intelligence tests, the WAIS may be culturally biased and doesn’t take inclusivity into consideration.
