I am Habib Sangar, and it’s totally cool to call me Habib J I like hiking, running, and biking, but I am yet to run my first marathon. I guess I am getting there. My research interest is to investigate the effects of critical thinking and critical discourse analysis in achieving higher level of foreign language proficiency. And of course, the role of technology and how it can facilitate students reaching such level of language proficiency.

As of my previous education, I have a dual Master’s degree in International Relations and Public Administration from Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs of Syracuse University. Coming from Syracuse, as you may know I cheer “go orange”. The team does relatively good this season so far.

As of now, I live and work in Monterey CA. I really enjoy living in this most beautiful peninsula, as the place is very ideal for my outdoor activities. I work as Student Learning Specialist for Defense Language Institute. Part of my job, I provide academic advising to our students and design and conduct workshops.

Finally, and of course most important of all, I am father of three adorable kids who have been keeping me and my wife so busy with everything we have to do for them in return for the joy and happiness they have brought into our lives.

That’s all to say about myself. I am really excited to be part of this learning community alongside you all. I look forward to very productive program that will help us all achieve our academic and future career goals and objectives.
