Task - Week 9
What desirable characteristics would you most like in your personal pedagogical agent?
Well one of the most important thing in AI in Education is the learner's profile and for a pedagogical agent to be able to build and use one would be most beneficial for the learner. This could help the user get better examples as well as an appropriate way of learning. We know that some people understand better through visualisation, some through hearing, etc. Using this the agent is able to use the appropriate techniques for the specific learner.
Extract ideas from the provided papers to identify how you would like your agent to appear and act?
Something which I think a pedagogical agent should have would be a customisablility. This could be interesting for different reasons for example, receiving history lessons from historical figures in the form of maybe Winston Churcill teaching you about both World Wars. This could be also be used for fictitious characters for example getting a lesson from characters such as Wall-E or Deadpool. This might make it more interesting for both adults as well as children as it is more captivating.
Would you interact with your agent at an academic level only? What else?
When we interact with humans we usually talk about subjects with opinions which change with the person's perspective. This could be something that with time could be implemented that the agent could offer a perspective but other than that it would only give facts and opinions of other people. Seeing this lack of opinion forming the conversation could be rather stale hence why I would not really use it for other reasons other then academics.
