Elevator Speech for Coding: An Integral Part of Digital Literacy
Good morning Madame Chairwoman,
Thank you for your interest in my project. Parent engagement in the educational endeavors of students is important for success. Digital literacy implementation is necessary for both youth and adults to become ready for the 21st century workforce. Currently, my organization is teaching digital literacy to parents, while students are learning the necessary skill of coding. We have found that this is creating an inadvertent gap in competence between parents and students.
We want to close this competency gap by implementing coding into the digital literacy program we offer parents. By doing this, we will increase parental engagement in student success and help families to succeed TOGETHER.
In order to do this, we need a backbone function that is strategically structured to design, implement and sustain this entire collaborative project. We have identified universities to help out with research and design as well as other community stakeholders who are interested.
Can we count on your support to forward this important community effort?
