Since the modern times, disputes over maritime rights between China and Southeast Asian countries have increased, and Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and other countries illegally occupy the islands of China's South China Sea, exploiting oil and gas resources, seriously damaging China's territorial sovereignty and economic rights, and increasingly no Conducive to the development of our country. The dispute between China and Southeast Asian countries in the South China Sea is not only an island dispute, but also a dispute over sea area demarcation and resource development. These issues are all about resources and geographical advantages disputes. Once these maritime rights are lost, they will endanger China’s homeland security. However, the situation is stable and controllable. The two sides are economically competitive and have common interests in politics. The relationship between the two parties will be further deepened and closely based on the past, whether it is the content of cooperation or the level of cooperation , will all be on a new step.
The Belt and Road Initiative is a great project for China, but some countries recognize it as a threat, so it needs time to remove prejudice and reach mutual benefits. It's no doubt that Chinese investment in Southeast can upgrade the local infrastructures(including digital commerce) and incentive employment, but how this project works consequently? It's maybe the issue local government truly care about.
I agree with you. Being created significantly to stimulate overall development and prosperity, to intensify international cooperation, and to use the advantages of each participant for the benefit of all, the “One Belt and One Way” program and its ideas finds resistance from other countries, such as EU, USA, India, which think that China uses its trade advantage for pressure. So “One Belt and One Way” is a “made in China, made for China” geopolitical strategy and it’s the debt trap for unsuccessful countries. Now we just have to wait for the further development of the situation.
Marina’s video touches on the problems of China and ASEAN partnership. There's a little bit of everything in it: investment, employment, production, tourism, education services, finance, security, trade, and so on. It highlights the events giving a hole detailed picture of the region by experts who have a first hand experience in different questions. Actually, the video is a little bit long, but it’s informative. I liked The South China Sea environmental review, which opens the eyes on the existing problems of overfishing and plastic pollution in the area, it tells about the alternative ways of fish and protein production to prevent the collapse of the entire fishing system
