Update 5 - Differentiated Learning
Differentiated instruction is a style of teaching that includes providing lessons in a variety of ways that respect how students learn. Differentiated learning provides different students with different avenues of learning, being that we are all different and process information differently. It is important that we understand that in a classroom setting and allow students to be open with how they process or perceive material that is being taught.
One strategy for differentiated instruction would a book report that allows student to demonstrate their learning in whatever form the reader prefers. This could include a video, PowerPoint, acting out a scene, or doing something musical. All students would read the same book, but will use their creativity for how they best learn or like to learn and present the material in their own way. Even though the same book was read, students will have different ideas and perspectives on how they viewed the book or what they got out of it. Information is presented in many different ways to help learners best understand the material. There are many different ways that a person takes in information and in the process your learning style can be identified. With allowing a way to demonstrate learning it can help the teacher understand the student’s way of thinking and apply to how they teach that particular student. Differentiated learning should always be used in the classroom in my opinion because it can help learning be done on different level and be able really enhance a student’s education.
