Update 1: Poor Students Face Digital Divide

For my update this week, I investigated further into as to technology becomes regressive when put into use in mixed income classrooms.
I think initially, when we think of providing access to technological tools such as chromebooks or iPads for all students, we feel as though we are providing them with the opportunity to utilize new resources. The sad truth of the matter is that students in low-income households lack the digital literacy necessary to effectively use these resources in the classroom.
The literacy gap between students continue to grow as many students are falling behind for various reasons, such as a lack of wifi in their home. Unfortunately, many teachers are not getting the training necessary to bridge this gap in technological literacy.
Do your schools provide resources or support to ensure that all students are at the proper technological literacy level? What kinds of strategies to they utilize?
