Diversity is a big powerful word. Today, I believe most of our classroom have the opportunity to have a different cultures enrolled. This is a huge opportunity for students and teacher to learn more about other communities, countries and people believes, and because we are all coming from differnet cultural backgrounds, religious, socio-economics and bleifs somethimes share and be part of the calssroom community can be hard.

Teachers have the responsability to promote the values for all cultures and recognize and accept each students beliefs and personalities. This will be the best role model for students to learn to do the same.

How does it Work: With a lot of patience, respect, and knowledge. Teachers are the the comanders responsible to provide a safe and positive enviroment were students feel accepted and respected. A place where students know that they are al differnet due to their cultures by at the same time they all have the same right and priviledges. An space where diversity is a plus and important because we learn from each other every day and where we can solve our difference with respect and words and can come up with a solution without hurting our feelings. A place where bully is not acceptable and each quality of the students is brought up with proud.

What are the challenges: Working with parents, administration, and other co-workers. In some cases the ignoraces of the people mentioned above does not allow to open thier eyes and realize that we are working for a better world and working together will be easier if we learn to tolerate each other. Respect, a big word that we try to teach students but many adults does not know how to implement in their own lives. 

To try to change the negative impact to positive impact we can invite parents to be active participants in the clasrrooms and share with us some of their culture and explains us more about. Knowledge-Education is the key to obtain a better place for all of us.

What are its effects? I strongly believe that the effects are all positive because one way or the other we always learn something form another culture and country which helps us to understand better people behaviors. It is a positive impact, but in most cases the role of the teacher has a lot to do based on how the teachers manage the comunication with the parents and students.
