I was educated in the UK at Sheffield University where I obtained my first degree (BSc (Honours, Class I)and then a post-graduate chemistry teacher qualification (P.G.C.E.). Having taught chemistry for a number of years I turned my interests to educational psychology. I obtained a PhD at James Cook University, Queensland, Australia. My interests include resilient students, students at risk of academic failure, achievement goal motivation and parenting perceptions. I am actively engaged in issues relevant to science education and teacher training. I teach educational psychology and research methodology to undergrads and post grads. In my research I favour the use of mixed methods and structural equation modelling (SEM).
