Update 1: The Big Picture
In my opinion, technology has a progressive role in education when it promotes 21st century skills: (collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, communication...) + P2P interatction + non-didactic approaches.
In my opinion technology has a regressive role in education when it impedes 21st Century skills by siloing learning, reducing P2P interactions + relying on teacher-centric approaches.
In my opinion, uniform standardized assessments (SAT, GRE, IB etc.) are an example of technology that represents a step back in learning. Unique, individualized projects and portfolios are more appropriate for assessing student learning.
