Update #5 AI and Peer Reviews
This is the first time I have used AI reviews and participated in peer reviews. The AI review I received provided me with feedback for basic elements I was missing in my writing. The reviews I received from peers were meaningful and helped me analyze my writing more closely.
In the other classes I have taken, professors graded all assignments, providing very little feedback on the writing itself. Using the AI review was pretty amazing. I was surprised how it not only provided me feedback on errors in my grammar/spelling, but it also provided feedback for ways I could improve my writing.
The peer reviews helped me by providing feedback for ways to modify my paper to clarify my thinking. I received guidance for the organization of my paper which resulted in me moving an entire paragraph to another location. I received assistance with a couple of errors I made in my writing. I have incorporated the feedback I received from the AI review by adding images to support the text.
The review and revision process helped my knowledge gain because adding images to my work is something new for me. In my past graduate classes, this was not something we did. By reviewing the work of others and through feedback, I realized the types of graphics I should be including and how to properly cite the graphics. In addition, the feedback helped me better synthesize the relationship of theories to the instructional practice.
The difference I observed in AI reviews and peer reviews was the AI reviews seemed to be more general. The peer/human reviews seemed to be more specific regarding ways to change the writing in the text. Having both types of reviews were extremely beneficial in helping me make necessary changes to my work. As I continue to take classes I am hoping to make measurable growth in writing.
