  Chris Thurman is a lecturer in the English Department at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He completed an MA at Royal Holloway (University of London) and gained his PhD from the University of Cape Town, where he taught part-time from 2004 to 2007. His research and teaching interests range from South African literature to Shakespeare studies, and his work has appeared in numerous scholarly journals. He was recently appointed the editor of the journal "Shakespeare in Southern Africa".
