Allen Alain Viguier is an artist, a writer and a teacher. He lectures in modern and contemporary art history and theory at the ENSA (Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Art) in Limoges (France). Between 1998 and 2006 he has developed at the ENSA in Limoges a cross-disciplnary educational project relating contemporary art to museum and gallery contexts and to curatorial practices, working with students on case studies and exhibitions in partnership with regional collections.
He is currently producing in partnership with Ivan Clouteau and with the support of the Service Éducatif an experimental audio guide commenting works from the contemporary collection at the Centre Georges Pompidou.
Between 2005 and 2007, within a partnership between the ENSA Limoges and the University of Avignon , has supervised a doctoral research in preventive conservation and art education and a report on the situation of registrars working with contemporary collections in France, a project funded by the Ministry of Culture in Paris (Délégation aux Arts Plastiques).
His approaches in education have been paralleled by texts and conferences engaged in a critical reappraisal of postmodernist theories and practices through a reexamination of the formative decades of the actual art world.
