Facilitators and participants provide examples of relevant topics, different viewpoints, pathways of thought, criticism of these, generally building literacy among the group much faster than having to come upon such expertise through reading academic journals. Participants knowledge base expands, and by seeing so many others' thinking habits revealed through discussion, different ways of analyzing media, ways of responding to others, they can notice their own in comparison and have a clear guide to improving on their own.
