Multimodal Literacies MOOC’s Updates
Practice Peer-graded Assignment: Optional Peer Reviewed Update #4
For adolescents, it is often not easy to grasp concepts and translate them to reality.
If teachers and pedagogical strategies still want to apply the program under a synesthetic spectrum, it will make it easier for students to understand the world around them.
Everywhere now, when a teacher finds a resource that will articulate the topic that matters on the assignment with greater assertiveness, living in the ambiguity about what is really understood and what is unknown scares us all, it encourages the learner to get to more meanings and combinations of sense formation.
Pictures are one of the most widely used tools in schools. Our imagination, our sagacity to consider the forms, colours, objects and elements depicted in the photographs are awakened by them. Writing about them, on the other hand, forces students to arrange their thoughts in sentences or paragraphs, which helps them develop a more complex idea of what is being seen or learned.
When I was in school, when I was teaching internships, my classmate and I arranged a project called "We can do it: the position of women is everywhere." We have spoken about how women are now present in all spaces, and how they have conquered spaces reserved for men only.Another of the activities involved pictures of notorious women from all over the world, from Malala to Queen Elizabeth II, another activity was a roleplay adapted from the film The Stepford Wife, we encouraged conversations about the role of women and there were roles more suitable to women and why they are deemed less able or inferior to do those jobs that men generally perform.
Students should compose posters with lines about what they have discovered through the exercises at the end of the project. We could see, me and my classmate, that when they had seen the pictures before had greatly affected them, causing us to believe that once they had seen the pictures, the visual of the pictures had a great image on how they see and represent other things.
I can now easily see the relation that occurs between the writing mode and the visual mode (images) as a result of this effect. When any sense making is expected from them, they are closely linked and have great impact on each other. This level of synaesthesia makes the relations between various modes easier for not only adolescents, but for all sorts of learners, and the interpretation and transition of ideas to reality becomes easier.
