IT Living in an Education World’s Updates
Welcome All
Hello All,
I created this as a space for all of us who are work in education but aren't traditionally educators.
What are your struggles, your adivce, and guidance for others in the same situation?
Hi Sol, I noticed that you mentioned in one of the live lectures that you have decided on the direction you were going into - Differentiated Instruction and Technology? I did read your paper where you added another component to Tomlinson's concept map. So, how is it going? :)
Awesome. My background is pretty similar in going all over the place. I started College to become a High School Chemistry Teacher. While doing that I worked in computers. Loved it. After going through chemistry, the college said it would take a fifth year and I couldn't afford that so I went and just got the B.S in Chemistry.
After that I went to work at State Farm in data center, then data security, then moved over to the U of I doing data security. I ended up getting my Masters at UIS in Technology Impact and Assessment.
But throughout it all education was always first and foremost for me. I taught leadership courses for students, mentored students and peers. When I found this new learning program I jumped at it.
If it wasn't for online I couldn't have done this. I know, as of Sunday am a PhD student.
I am really truly interested in educating educators. I want to help educators learn better ways to get their objective met and meet the needs of students at the same time.
So a strange course but always education related somehow even if it was in my volunteer service.
Hi Sol,
My original background is computer science. However, being a single parent I went into consulting, training and teaching so my hours would be more in tune with my son's, but ended up loving the educational arena and then into the online learning where both my passions for education and computer science could be realized. I just always wanted to complete my Phd and being an educator I found education being the better of the two to pursue a PhD. And in this stage of my life pursuing the Phd is what I wish to do. :)
How about you? What is your background?
Anastasia
Anastasia that's awesome. What is your original background? What pushed you to to go back into formal education in education :-)
Well I am going back to school for formal education in education. :)
