Negotiating Learner Differences MOOC’s Updates
Truth in Diversity
We could never really choose our status in life, but we can choose what comes in our lives.
The truth is, diversity - as much as we desire - could never always be fair. In every diverse community, it will have at least on conflict regarding discrimination. Included in diversity and discrimnation are social status, race, gender, abilities, and culture, which could eventually be in conflict with another.
For example, the movement of various groups of people gives a sense of power and needs. Understanding this concept, the community who welcomes these numerous communities could feel power. This concept is unfair in diversity. Why can't we accept the fact that we are all in need of each other?
The process of welcoming others is not a command, but it means being humane and rational. This is why this course opens a lot of door in the field of education, by being open and actually negotiating learner differences.
@Erikyle Aguilar, I agree with your opinion. Educators themselves were once learners and they learn differently with other peers. As an educator, learning is diverse too. Regardless of color and race, we all deserve to have an education that could lead us to be a better person, relating our experiences with others to learn more.
I agree with you. Conflict due to diversity is always present but we can also always chose what's best for the majority. Kindness over power
