Abstract
This research presents the Integrated Model for Sustainable Development (IMSD), developed collaboratively by Stanford University and the University of South-Eastern Norway. Based on the pioneering work of Executive Director Lincoln Bleveans and Associate Professor Benja Stig Fagerland, the IMSD integrates Corporate Diversity Responsibility (CDR) with renewable energy strategies, offering a comprehensive approach to global sustainability challenges. This framework, aligned with the 2025 Special Focus, “Sustainable Development for a Dynamic Planet: Lessons, Priorities, and Solutions,” addresses themes such as Ecological Realities, Participatory Process, Economic, Social, and Cultural Context, and Education, Assessment, and Policy. The IMSD emphasizes that sustainable development requires balancing environmental stewardship with social inclusivity. By addressing the question, “Whose Sustainable Future?” the research highlights the importance of diverse stakeholder inclusion and the intersectionality of environmental, social, and economic factors. The framework is underpinned by rigorous empirical analysis and case studies, advocating for gender equity and renewable energy practices within corporate governance. This model offers strategic guidelines for businesses and policymakers, advocating for the adoption of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria to enhance corporate social responsibility (CSR) and societal benefits. The research aligns with key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), providing a roadmap for systemic change through inclusive practices. The study calls for the implementation of SMART goals and multi-stakeholder engagement, framing the responsibility to act through an interdisciplinary lens. The IMSD significantly advances the discourse on sustainable development, proposing pathways to a more equitable and sustainable future.
