Abstract
In the contemporary digital age, the concept of “oceanic narratives” has acquired new significance as internet platforms serve as channels for tales of migration, identity, and displacement. This study explores Wattpad’s “Migration Tales” series and Submarine Channel’s interactive documentary “The Refugee Republic,” analysing how both digital platforms enable narratives that are fluid, fragmentary, and borderless, similar to the essence of maritime mobility. These platforms provide a means for diasporic people to convey their narratives, employing episodic and immersive storytelling approaches that reflect the intricate, multifaceted experience of migration. Serving as virtual “oceans,” these digital platforms allow the expression, transformation, and redefinition of fragmented identities, thus shaping new trajectories in the humanities. These platforms, through their collaborative and boundary-crossing characteristics, not only embody the ocean’s vastness but also establish venues for narratives that beyond traditional constraints of nation and language, reinventing the potential of literary genres.
