Abstract
This study examines the potential of born-digital memes as archival material by analyzing a collection of Bored Panda memes related to the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial. Utilizing a linked data approach, we explore the intertextual allusions within these memes, identifying references to classic literature, movies, caricatures, and other cultural phenomena. By mapping these connections, we contribute to a deeper understanding of how digital-born discourse shapes public opinion and cultural narratives. When analyzed through a linked data framework, born-digital memes can serve as valuable archival resources for studying contemporary cultural phenomena. By mapping the intertextual allusions within these memes, we can uncover the complex web of references and meanings that contribute to their significance.
