An Unfulfilled Sexual Quest: Reading Dhruba Chandra Gautam's "Terror of Flower"

Abstract

The ultimate goal of an individual is to gain pleasure. Everyone does his best in seeking pleasure to enjoy life. But such quest is always checked by the social norms and value that do not allow people to act wildly. The ultimate projection of the present paper is guided by the passionate journey of the protagonist of the novel while fulfilling his meaningless quest of physical pleasure. So, the seeker disguises his actions and manners in socially accepted parameters for sexual requisite. Such distortion and disguise do not suffice to impart desired sexual necessity. Even more, lack of sexual satisfaction is translated into language that generates lack and desire to deceive the seeker. Ultimately the quest for comfortable and satisfied living through succession of actions and events as well as linguistic system of the protagonist is not possible.
