Engagement with the Community: UNIC Medical School’s Mobile Clinic

The Medical School’s Mobile Clinic (MC) demonstrates UNIC's dedication to social responsibility through its extensive community service. Conducting, on an average, two expeditions per month across Cyprus, the clinic reaches diverse populations, including senior citizens in remote areas, youth, migrants, and the general public. It offers essential diagnostic services at no cost, highlighting the importance of community engagement and hands-on medical education. Involving over 200 students alongside more than 20 physicians and staff members, the clinic performs approximately 1,700 tests on over 700 individuals per year. These expeditions include basic screenings such as blood pressure, BMI, and glucose measurements, alongside specialized tests for ophthalmological diseases, electrocardiograms, HIV, syphilis, and PAP tests.

Presenters: Mr George Sycallides, Director of Communications, UNIC Health, Dr Danagra Ikossi, Clinical Associate Professor and Advisor to the MC Club, Mr Christos Krasidis, Coordinator of the MC, Mr Naresh Sinnathamby, Medical Student and President of the MC Club.
