Is plastic water bottle really good for the environment and people? Americans use 2.5 million plastic bottles every hour. Out of all of this plastic bottles only 27% is being recycled, 63% of the plastic is going to waste. Every hour we waste about 1,575,000 million plastic bottles. Manteno should ban plastic water bottle because it will save crude oil, and the environment will be safe place for humans and for animals.
By making plastic bottles they purchase about 17 million barrels of crude oil every year. Crude oil can be refined to produce usable products such as gasoline, diesel and various forms of petrochemicals. According to Tarshis, "Most of this plastic is made from crude oil - about 17 million barrels of oil for bottles purchased in the United States alone."(pg.20) By making plastic water bottles it takes a large amount of crude oil than you can imagine. It takes about 2.7 million tons of plastic to just make plastic water bottles, that we throw away when we are done. All of that plastic are made from crude oil and people don't recycle much plastic to recover the amount of crude oil is being wasted. Conforming to Bosque, "The amount of oil used to make a year's worth of bottles could fill one million cars for a year, and more water is used in making the bottle then filling it."(Bosque) People should care about how much oil is being wasted just for having plastic water bottles. Crude oil are used to make the water bottles clear. People right now use too much crude oil for just making plastic bottles. That amount of crude oil could run one million cars for a year. By making plastic water bottles it also waste water by making it. It takes three times the water to make the bottle as it does to fill it. People waste too much oil and too much water to just make a plastic water bottle. However, having plastic bottles, it will make easier for people to carry around and use it. Yeah, but while people are finished with the plastic bottles they just throw away. People just waste the water bottles they use. While they are wasting the water bottles they also waste the materials that it was used to make the water bottles. It is not a good Idea to have a plastic bottles, because it wastes lots of crude oil and water.
By having plastic water bottles in this world it hurts the environment, it hurts the animals and it also hurts the humans too. In line with Light, "Plastic bottles containing Bisphenol A (BPA), the chemical used to make the plastic hard and clear. BPA is an endocrine disruptor which has been proven to be hazardous to human health." This chemical is very dangerous to humans health, because of this chemical it can cause cancer, neurological difficulties and all kinds of disease. Many people use plastic water bottles and many people have different types of diseases. In the last year they found 96% of the woman have BPA in their bodies. By having plastic water bottles it can increase the health of humans. According to Light, "Plastic bottle caps are currently not recyclable and as with the plastic bags they often end up at the bottom of the ocean, and in the stomachs of variety of animal species that was mistaken them for food." (Light) By not being recycled, is hurting the animals and hurting the environment. Scientist found an animal dead on the sea shore because of the water bottle caps. An albatross had about 119 caps in his stomach that was bean mistaken by food. This is why people should ban water bottles because it hurts the animal and it hurts the environment. However, by having water bottles people will drink less sugary sodas that is also unhealthy for humans. Yeah but, animals die from the caps that ends up in the ocean. Humans get's disease and cancer from the chemicals. Environment is being destroyed because there is large amounts of water bottles laying on the fields, that will take millions of years to decay. By having plastic water bottles it hurts the animals, humans, and environment. Let's not destroy our world because of the plastic water bottle.
In conclusion, plastic water bottles are not health way to get your daily water source. By having plastic water bottles in this world it hurts the environment, the animals, and even humans. Having plastic water bottles also waste materials that we can use on other things that are useful.
