The Faces of Mexico: A Study in Truth and Perception

Abstract

The Faces of Mexico is a portraiture project that humanizes Mexican individuals through intimate, high-contrast black-and-white photography. Born from my ongoing Faces of the Unknown series, this work challenges perceptions of identity by juxtaposing real photographic portraits with AI-generated faces that reflect the same cultural and aesthetic sensibilities. This project explores how AI tools can serve as both an extension of artistic vision and a disruption to our understanding of authenticity.
