Abstract
This project explores the role and influence of the body in images on the triggering of the subjective self in female image art. Female art practitioners materialize their thoughts through their bodies, using the flesh to express the self-stimulation of autonomous sexual consciousness. This expands to an extension of the philosophy of corporeal-consciousness that is Merleau-Ponty has emphasized the similarity and embodiment of self-conscious triggers, linking the external and internal fluxes of autonomous cognition. Therefore, I take the specificity of individual perceptions of the female body and the possibility of misinterpretation as a starting point for a discussion on the self-triggering and reconstruction of female’s bodily consciousness in experimental image in the light of feminist theories of phenomenology of body and gendered manipulation practices, and will explore the challenges and possibilities of analyzing the images of female’s bodies in a pluralistic as well as scenario.
