Abstract
GMT Ground Services (GMT) is at the forefront of the aviation ground service industry, embarking on a transformative journey toward more sustainable operations. This detailed sustainability strategy elaborates on each facet of the company’s dedication to implementing and promoting sustainable practices within the aviation support sector. The company has a solid foundation for multiple sustainable initiatives, all carefully aligned with its vision to lead and inspire the transition to sustainable ground handling operations. Five key objectives drive operations in support of this vision, focused on environmental stewardship, improving employee retention rates, and fostering heightened awareness around cybersecurity issues. Key performance indicators (KPIs) provide incremental goals to monitor progress towards objectives. Additionally, a comprehensive Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis enables GMT to pinpoint operational strengths while identifying and addressing areas requiring improvement. Finally, a suite of tactics reflects a proactive approach to ensure the company remains a responsible and forward-thinking leader in the ground services industry, aligning operations with all three sustainability pillars. The research explored in this paper serves as a model for existing ground handling organizations to employ in pursuit of sustainability.
