Abstract
Limited flexibility may result in athletic injury, pain, and movement dysfunction. Passive Static stretching (PS), Active Static stretching (AS), Dynamic stretching (DS), and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation stretching (PNF) techniques were developed and promised to provide various benefits, including improved performance, decreased athletic injury, and decreased delayed onset muscle soreness. This study explores stretching in warm-ups as essential for both athletic and non-athletic populations. The stretching response seems to depend upon population, sex, age, and previous injuries.
