Abstract
This paper introduces “SportsCrit: A Pedagogy for Transforming Sports Education,” a forthcoming book that extends critical race theory (CRT) into the field of sports education. As we seek to reimagine the role of sports in society, SportsCrit offers a revolutionary pedagogical framework that centers on equity, social justice, and critical consciousness. The book provides educators with the theoretical foundation, practical strategies, and real-world applications needed to challenge dominant narratives in sports education and create more inclusive learning environments. Tthis study explores how SportsCrit intersects with cultural, political, and economic relationships in sports, fostering a critical understanding of how race, power, and privilege shape sports cultures and identities. SportsCrit is designed to bridge disciplinary, geographic, and cultural boundaries, offering a globally relevant approach to transforming sports education.
