Abstract
With its creative ways to support sustainable growth, artificial intelligence (AI) has become a disruptive force in education. The impact of Lagos State University’s (LASU) AI-driven teaching methods on sustainable development is investigated in this paper. This study’s main goals are to identify LASU’s most significant AI-driven educational breakthroughs, assess how well they contribute to the SDGs, and investigate fresh ideas for how AI may change education for a sustainable future. Students, instructors, and administrative staff were interviewed qualitatively and quantitatively as part of a mixed-methods approach. Quantitative data was analyzed using statistical methods, while qualitative data was analyzed through thematic analysis to uncover common themes and insights regarding AI-driven educational practices at LASU. Preliminary findings indicate that AI-driven educational practices at LASU, such as personalized learning, intelligent tutoring systems, and data-driven decision-making, significantly enhance the quality of education and promote sustainable development. These innovations have shown positive impacts on student engagement, learning outcomes, and the integration of sustainability concepts into educational curricula. The study concludes that AI-driven education holds great promise for advancing sustainable development at LASU. Continuous innovation and investment in AI technologies are essential for creating a more sustainable and equitable future in education. The results emphasise how crucial it is to build collaborations between academic institutions, tech companies, and legislators in order to properly utilise AI’s potential to promote sustainable development.
