Using Artificial Intelligence Generated Images to Enhance Teaching and Learning: Visual Enhancements for All Classrooms

Abstract

This study explores the challenges and opportunities of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI)-generated images into teaching and learning in all classrooms. The purpose is to investigate how AI-generated visual content can enhance instructional strategies, foster student engagement, and improve learning outcomes across various disciplines. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis of student performance with qualitative feedback from educators and students on their experiences with AI-generated images in the classroom. Using AI technologies, such as generative adversarial networks (GANs), to create tailored visual content, this research develops and implements a series of instructional materials in diverse subjects. These materials are evaluated for their effectiveness in aiding comprehension, retention, and application of complex concepts. The study also examines the practicalities of integrating AI-generated images into existing curricula (within Australia) and the associated pedagogical implications. The implications of this study are profound for the future of educational practices. AI-generated images can provide dynamic and customizable visual aids, making abstract or challenging concepts more accessible and engaging for students. For educators, these tools can enhance lesson plans, allowing for more interactive and visually enriched teaching methods. The research also addresses ethical considerations, such as ensuring the accuracy and appropriateness of AI-generated content and the need for professional development to equip teachers with the skills to utilize these tools effectively. Ultimately, this presentation contributes to the evolving discourse on AI in education, offering valuable insights and practical recommendations for leveraging AI-generated images to improve teaching and learning experience.
