Abstract
This research explores the intersection of literature, culture, and community through the lens of Jin Yong, one of Hong Kong’s most influential authors, and the Jin Yong Gallery, a cultural institution dedicated to his legacy. Jin Yong’s works have transcended local boundaries, shaping not only Hong Kong’s literary landscape but also influencing global perceptions of Chinese culture. This study investigates how the Jin Yong Gallery serves as a conduit for both preserving and promoting Jin Yong’s narratives while fostering a deeper understanding of Hong Kong’s unique cultural identity. Through a qualitative analysis of visitor engagement, archival research, and interviews with cultural stakeholders, this research assesses the gallery’s role in contextualizing Jin Yong’s contributions within broader global literary movements. The findings offer insights into how local cultural institutions can harness their heritage to address global themes such as identity, diaspora, and intercultural dialogue. By examining the dynamic relationship between Jin Yong’s literary legacy and the gallery’s educational initiatives, this study seeks to highlight the potential of local cultural experiences to inform and enrich global conversations. Ultimately, this research will contribute to the fields of cultural conservation and heritage studies, providing a framework for understanding how localized narratives can resonate on a global scale.
