Exploring the Culinary Crossroads - the Impact of Korean Cuisine on Filipino Students: A Gastronomic Journey through Cultural Fusion and Student Palates

Abstract

Korean restaurants may be seen everywhere in the Philippines. Korean foods successfully made its way to the Filipino people in conjunction with great exposure to Korean dramas and Korean pop culture and because of the influence of social media. However, Korean dishes would not be as much as successful right now in the Philippines if the flavors and dishes did not resonate with the Filipino taste. This study considers aspects that influence students to select Korean food by being influenced by social media, Korean drama, Kpop. Some try Korean food out of curiosity. The significance of this study is determining how Korean cuisine influenced the students in Iligan Medical Center College. The influence of Korean food on students’ dietary practices, interpersonal relationships, and comprehension of culture emphasizes how important it is to acknowledge and value its part in forming the students. Therefore, more investigation and study of this subject are required to better understand the impact of Korean cuisine on the students of Iligan Medical Center College. This study, which examined the students’ preference for native Filipino food over Korean cuisine and its implications for local food culture sheds light on the significant influence of Korean foods on the students. The world has become more integrated on an economic, social, and cultural level because of recent globalization trends. In this regard, Korean cuisine has become increasingly popular and established in the Philippines.
